- Aid The financial aid from the college covers nearly all of her tuition costs (she has to pay about $1,000 per year).
Her parents are from Mexico. Her father fixes roofs and her mother does housekeeping. Born in Texas, she is the first one in her family to attend college. She entered the Breakthrough Program in Austin, giving her the opportunity to attend a private school, which in turned paved a way to go to college.

Born in the Dominican Republic, he came to the United States at age 8 after his father passed away. He was fortunate enough to attend a good high school in Pennsylvania. DACA opened the Amherst doors for him, with help from QuestBridge.
